Connected Devices Move to New Turf With PlantLink

Oso Technologies, a Serra I and II company, was featured by The Chicago Tribune on April 22. Oso Technologies offers a wireless, internet connected soil moisture monitoring system – Plant Link -- that helps gardeners save water and keep their plants healthy. By waiting to water plants until they really need it, gardeners can cut back on their water use and help their plants live longer, healthier lives.

Connected devices have gained immense popularity in recent years, and it is now spreading into the world of gardening with PlantLink. Scotts released the Gro app this week to coincide with Earth Day. The app can pair with PlantLink and other Connected Yard devices, like smart sprinklers. 


Oso Technologies’ PlantLink Featured in Champaign News-Gazette

Oso Technologies, a Serra Capital I and II company, had its product “PlantLink” featured in the Champaign News-Gazette on Sunday, July 5.

PlantLink, the wireless soil monitoring system developed by Oso Technologies is now being sold at Home Depot stores and at The article further explains the new changes in management for Oso as well as fellow Serra Capital I company, The Product Manufactory, being brought on to manufacture the hardware for PlantLink.

Mercedes Mane, the new CEO of Oso Technologies, states “Serra Ventures is still the biggest investor,” she said. “The Product Manufactory has substantial ownership as well now, but we retained all of the original investors. We are still looking to bring in new investment this year to help sustain the rapid growth.”

Oso Technologies Featured in Champaign News-Gazette

Oso Technologies, a Serra Capital I and II portfolio company, was featured in the article “Oso Technologies Prepping Product For Delivery” in the Champaign News-Gazette on March 2, 2014. Oso has been busily preparing their product, PlantLink, to be shipped out to their Kickstarter supporters. The company also hopes to start shipping product to orders placed on within the month.
